Creative Leadership and Outreach

Javier Rivas is deeply committed to widening access to education and the arts. At King’s College London, he leads the award-winning King’s Music Academy, mentoring and managing a team of students who deliver high-quality music lessons in South London state schools. As project lead, he oversees teaching delivery, programme evaluation, teacher recruitment, and community engagement initiatives.

In addition, he manages the national charity Water City Music, supporting its founder, violinist-educator Michael Bochmann MBE, in organising workshops and performances that bring together primary pupils, university students, and professional musicians. Water City Music has played a key role in establishing the All-Party Parliamentary Group Music in Primary Schools. He also serves as a trustee for the Lucille Graham Trust, supporting arts and music organisations across London.

Javier has been invited to share his outreach work at King’s College London, the University of Oxford, and Music Mark.
